Yes! After a winter of discontent and silence MovieGuild.org is back! — not saying we’ll be here long, but we recently had a blast filming Shopping Market Smackdown. It was unplanned, we were shopping for food, and inspiration struck. We finished shopping, chose Isle 18 (canned goods) and in a matter of roughly 15 minutes we had the principle photography done (fancy way of saying filmed it).
Yes oh yes, enjoy the splender of our labors now in Shopping Market Smackdown.

Its a little slow around here lately. Not much has been happening in the guild. Sorry. My computer’s video editing ability kinda took a dive so thats why the latest video hasn’t been edited/posted. Just kinda throwin this out here so we all know we aren’t dead, just hibernating a little bit.
Hey, just wanted to pop in and say hi. We haven’t been totally dead, yes a little less active, but we have still met a few times that we have failed to document.
I’m going to go ahead and point the blame finger at everyone else, simply because its easier. (*whisper* you guys have log-in accounts, use them. )
Anyway, there was an impromptu video that was filmed on the spot a few nights back. If my computer would stop crashing i’d edit that and get it up. We’ll see.
Boat Race is the result of MovieGuild.org. Our objective is to create movies for the purpose of developing our film making skills. Obviously we have lots of room to grow.
This film was conceived and shot on the same day, surprisingly, it took us 8 hours (i think).

fyi, its kinda smallish on here, you may want to just click HERE and see the full size version.
Get ready for this weekend. We’ll be editing Boat Race (remember? The film we shot two weeks ago). It is tentatively planned for Sunday the 3rd of May.
I’ll be sure to txt everyone once we have a solid time.
Sorry, i was doing some upgrades to the site and one of them hosed the site… wtf?
Looks like its theme related. Somehow this theme we’ve been using is not compatible with … a plugin i’m using? It doesn’t make any sense, because i deactivated all the plugins, and it still didn’t fix the issue.
I’m a little confused.
*Update: Fixed it, new theme. Oddly enough i like this new theme alot more…
I understand that everyone has different schedules and making time for all of us to get together is difficult but I worry that this task will become harder to accomplish if we don’t have a fixed day. If we are going to do the whenever we can thing I don’t think it would necessarily be bad if we could incorporate organization into it. That being said I think we should pick a day at the start of the week that has the best possibility of being congruent with everyones schedule or stay with the current theme. This is a democracy so your vote counts.
*edited by stephen: Sorry Mat, in my brilliance i managed to delete your “VOTE” post and now i’m left here with no comments (you and jen commented) so yeah, go ahead and VOTE again, but do it in the comments of this post. Again, sorry.
That means you totally remove any structure that was present previously, and you start out fresh and new, and in a new direction.
An example of this would be Batman Begins (2006); a great movie in my opinion. And because it was so successful, we will also be doing this for the movie guild.
Due to my schedule being very very very busy we will not be having “weekly” meetings, but instead we will have one whenever we are able to get it together.
“Outsiders” (ie non-core members) are welcomed at any time of course, but due to past disappointment in member enthusiasm we have stripped the movie guild of “members” and we are now just sticking with “core-group”.
No hard feelings, just tough love; i have not the energy to drive uninspired people at this point, bring inspiration and you are so in.
Also we have a new unit for the core-group, welcome Jennifer Pan (see below post). She shows all the right signs for the type of person we want in the Movie Guild (someone who is interested in movies and is inspired from within to pursue said efforts), so welcome her with much love.
