Hey everyone!
Get ready for this weekend. We’ll be editing Boat Race (remember? The film we shot two weeks ago). It is tentatively planned for Sunday the 3rd of May.
I’ll be sure to txt everyone once we have a solid time.

Today we watched Machined Reborn. A follow-up to last weeks Machined.
There were some pictures taken, but I’m not able to get those right now…
I’ll get those later.

Movie Guild Meetup #11 rocked, of course. We have Mat Black back from his little fling in Tennessee. He is damaged goods, but recovering steadily.
Also this is the first meetup with the new Movieguild member Jennifer Pan. She was on set rockin the hardcore equipment. We had a slate! Okay, I’ll give you a moment to let that settle in…
*a period of time passes*
Yeah, so we had a slate.
We watched Machined, a low budget horror film. It was not a good movie, but we watched it for a purpose. The purpose being next weeks movie, Machined Reborn (I’d link you to the movie, but its not out yet. And i cant find the website for it). I don’t think everyone understands what I’m trying to do, but I wanted to see the contrasting difference between someones first effort (Machined) and one of their later films (Machined Reborn). I think we will all be pleasantly surprised with the quality differences.
After the movie, we then sat around and tried to write miniature stories to film. It was a lot harder than I’d anticipated. Luckily Mat had this one covered. He wrote up a short series of events, and we used that as our groundwork for the days shoot.
I wont spoil it by saying what happens, but it will most likely confuse you.
I think we all learned the importance of a good catering service on set. Unfortunately we don’t have a budget or anything, so we cant actually provide food for ourselves.
The editing wont happen for a while, thats just how the schedule worked out. Busy week for everyone, or at least, a few of us.
You guys think of anything else we should do differently next time? (comment)

Sorry, i was doing some upgrades to the site and one of them hosed the site… wtf?
Looks like its theme related. Somehow this theme we’ve been using is not compatible with … a plugin i’m using? It doesn’t make any sense, because i deactivated all the plugins, and it still didn’t fix the issue.
I’m a little confused.
*Update: Fixed it, new theme. Oddly enough i like this new theme alot more…

I understand that everyone has different schedules and making time for all of us to get together is difficult but I worry that this task will become harder to accomplish if we don’t have a fixed day. If we are going to do the whenever we can thing I don’t think it would necessarily be bad if we could incorporate organization into it. That being said I think we should pick a day at the start of the week that has the best possibility of being congruent with everyones schedule or stay with the current theme. This is a democracy so your vote counts.
*edited by stephen: Sorry Mat, in my brilliance i managed to delete your “VOTE” post and now i’m left here with no comments (you and jen commented) so yeah, go ahead and VOTE again, but do it in the comments of this post. Again, sorry.

Do you know what it means to reboot a franchise?
That means you totally remove any structure that was present previously, and you start out fresh and new, and in a new direction.
An example of this would be Batman Begins (2006); a great movie in my opinion. And because it was so successful, we will also be doing this for the movie guild.
Due to my schedule being very very very busy we will not be having “weekly” meetings, but instead we will have one whenever we are able to get it together.
“Outsiders” (ie non-core members) are welcomed at any time of course, but due to past disappointment in member enthusiasm we have stripped the movie guild of “members” and we are now just sticking with “core-group”.
No hard feelings, just tough love; i have not the energy to drive uninspired people at this point, bring inspiration and you are so in.
Also we have a new unit for the core-group, welcome Jennifer Pan (see below post). She shows all the right signs for the type of person we want in the Movie Guild (someone who is interested in movies and is inspired from within to pursue said efforts), so welcome her with much love.
